First Game Boy emulator officially arrives on the App Store.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the GAME FEED TV channel.

Apple recently changed the rules of the App Store, allowing game emulators on the iPhone for the first time since the store was launched in 2008.

As a result of this policy change, it is expected that emulator apps will start to appear in the store, and the first one is iGBA, a free Game Boy emulator for iPhone and iPad. In our tests, we were also able to install the app normally on a MacBook M1.

iGBA

The game is a version of the well-known GBA4iOS, which is normally distributed in the AltStore, an alternative app store specializing in iOS emulators. GBA4iOS is open source, so theoretically anyone can grab it and publish it on the App Store.

The app is free but comes with advertising banners.

Despite this, iGBA is a fully functional emulator, allowing users to play Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Color ROMs on their devices.

Remember that downloading ROMs from unofficial sources without the intellectual property owners' permission is considered piracy, even though the manufacturers themselves do not provide any alternative option for purchasing licenses for these games. Yet.

Features include save states, customizable virtual controllers, tactile settings, and external screen projection via AirPlay.

This should be just the first of many emulators we'll see in the coming weeks. This could grow the sector and even encourage Nintendo, Sony, and others to offer an official option for users to relive their childhood games..
